How to Reschedule Your U.S. Visa Appointment in India

1. Understand the Rescheduling Policy (Current Rules)

You get one chance to reschedule.

  • Starting January 1, 2025, U.S. Embassy & Consulates in India allow applicants to reschedule their non-immigrant visa interview only once without paying a new fee. If you need to reschedule a second time, or miss your appointment without cancelling, you’ll have to book a new appointment and pay the visa application fee again.

Why this Rule Exists:

  • This policy was introduced to reduce long wait times and ensure fair access to interview slots for all applicants.

Be Aware:

  • If the Embassy sends you a rescheduled date via email, you must show up on that new date — going on the old date will likely get you denied entry.
