In 2025, the U.S. government reactivated a long-standing requirement for certain noncitizens to register and provide biographic information through Form G-325R, Biographic Information (Registration). This requirement is grounded in Section 262 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA)
Below is an up-to-date guide: who must register, how it works, what happens if you don’t, and key tips to stay compliant.
📌What Is Form G-325R?
Form G-325R, Biographic Information (Registration) is a USCIS form created for unregistered aliens (or those who never completed fingerprinting) to comply with the “alien registration” requirement under INA § 262.
The form is intended for registration and fingerprinting of noncitizens who have not yet been registered or printed.
It does not grant any immigration status, work authorization, or legal status by itself. It is purely to fulfill a statutory compliance duty.
The form must be filed online via a USCIS account — it is not accepted by mail or in person.
🧾 Who Must File Form G-325R?
To determine whether you must file, the following conditions generally apply|
Condition | Requirement |
Age | You are 14 years old or older (or upon turning 14) |
Unregistered Status | You were not registered or fingerprinted earlier (e.g. at visa issuance, entry, or during a USCIS process) |
Duration of stay | You stay in the U.S. for 30 days or more during a given period |
Parental duty | For children under 14, the parent or guardian must register them; once a child turns 14, they must register within 30 days. |
📝Exemptions / Already Registered Persons You may not need to file if you are already considered registered via prior immigration processes. Examples include:
You have a valid I-94 or I-94W (admission record).
You were fingerprinted in connection with an immigration application (e.g. I-485, visa, etc.).
You were previously registered under another method recognized by DHS/USCIS.

🛠 How to Complete Form G-325R
Here is a simplified step-by-step process based on guidelines and interpretations:
