1. Location

Note: The Embassy is in a high-security zone. No parking is available in the immediate vicinity. Plan to arrive by public transport or a pre-booked cab/auto.

2. Documents to Carry

Carry all original documents. Organize them in a clear folder.

  • Essential: Appointment confirmation letter, DS-160 confirmation page, passport.

  • Supporting Documents (as applicable):

    • Previous passports.

    • Photograph (as per specifications).

    • Proof of funds (bank statements, sponsorship letters).

    • Employment verification letter.

    • For students: I-20, academic transcripts, standardized test scores.

Pro Tip: Only carry what is necessary. Extra bags and items will cause problems at security.

3. Before You Go

  • Arrive Early: Reach at least 15–30 minutes before your slot.

  • Traffic Alert: Delhi traffic around Chanakyapuri is usually heavy—plan accordingly.

  • Carry Only Essentials: Personal belongings are not allowed inside.

4. Security Check – Allowed & Not Allowed Items

The embassy has strict security. Only carry what is essential.

  • Allowed Items: File folder with documents, a wallet, car keys.

  • NOT Allowed Items:

    • Electronic devices: Phones, laptops, tablets, smartwatches, fitness bands, cameras, USB drives.

    • Bags: Backpacks, large handbags, luggage.

    • Other items: Lighters, matches, sharp objects, weapons, food, liquids.

If you bring prohibited items, you will be denied entry.

5. Beware of Locker / Storage Scams Outside

Avoid unverified locker services or individuals offering “consulate lockers” near the gate. Many are unsafe or overpriced.

6. Aprion Digital Locker – Safe Storage Option

This is the safest and most recommended option.

  • Smart face detection lockers: No keys or passwords to forget. Your face is the key.

  • Online & offline booking: You can reserve a locker in advance or walk in.

  • Crucial Instructions: The U.S. Embassy is in a high-security zone with no shops or storage facilities nearby. The Aprion Digital Locker store is located about 3 km away.

    • Visit the Aprion Digital Locker store first, safely deposit all your prohibited items (phone, bag, etc.),

    • Then, take a short cab or auto-rickshaw ride to the U.S. Embassy with only your documents.

7.  Interview Tips

  • Be clear, confident, and concise in your answers.

  • Answer honestly – officers are experienced and direct.

  • Maintain eye contact and stay calm.

  • Organize your documents for easy access.
